Abstract

The study made on public library services and information sources in Purulia district of West Bengal, India present situation and condition of professional staff, information resource and user of public library. The majority of the user community were belongs to male and farmer and unemployed youth at 15-45 year old and they were student, unemployed youth, farmer and employee of private sector and government sector. Resource used by the user and their visiting frequency along with the time spent in the libraryand  the ratio of male female has also maintained. Printed( Fiction, folk literature ) and some non-printed materials news papers magazine were most frequently used resource. Basically borrowing and reading room services were maximum enjoyed by the user.
