Abstract

The percentage of adolescents in India is increasing and comprises of one-fourth of the total population. Adolescence is recognized as a phase rather than a fixed time period in an individual's life. Hence in the present study a pioneer attempt has been made to explore the adolescence substance abuse behaviour management by using of Life model of social work in Kalpa block of Kinnaur. For accomplishing the objectives life model use. The result based on qualitative research revealed that adolescence substance use behaviour is one of the prominent problems in Kinauri tribe.. In Kinnauri tribe alcohol is brewed at home and consumed regularly. It is offered to the deities on special occasions and then taken as Prasad. Therefore it is culturally accepted and is not taken as social stigma. Most of the adolescence starts substance in curiosity and peer pressure. Majority of the group were unaware of the medical problems related to Substance use. Life model of social work is used in creating supportive service environment, helping in stressful life transition, helping with family and in group process by awareness and education on substance.
