Abstract

Skill development is important because of its contribution to enhance productivity at the individual industry and also at the national level. Improved labour productivity enhances share in the market thus resulting in earning increments. Moreover, the dream of "Make In India" would be true only if skilled man power is easily available. The need of skill development challenge can be estimated by the fact that only 3% of the existing workforce of India can be called skilled. To overcome the problem of unskilled workforce, skill training needs to be attached with the field of education.

These are many drawbacks in our education systems as well as the problems on part of the working of government which pose a difficult path to achieve the goal of skilled India. These problems are like: no coordination between education system and labour market, absence of proper training of vocation, lack of guidance and counseling programs, lack of systematic approach etc.. The present article deals with some genuine suggestions to deal with the problems discussed above.
