Abstract

The objective of flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) are used to increase the capacity of transmission line, to control theflow of power in the transmission line as well as to improve the quality of active and reactive power. FACTS technology is beingpopularly used to enhance power system performance. A FACTS is a low environmental impact technology to rapidlyenhancing reliability on a long term and cost effective basis. In this paper the performance analysis of Unified power flowcontroller (UPFC) for improving the power quality is presented .The UPFC is the novel concept which offer multiplecompensation function for power transmission system . The UPFC allows flexible control of both active and reactive powerflow on transmission line. In this paper the performance of UPFC with conventional system ispresented for improving power quality.
