M.S. EXCEL AN EFFECTIVE TOOL FOR MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT RECORDS

Writing the maintenance records in any plant is a long and lengthy process. Staring from shift engineer’s log book to write separate equipment detail register of each equipment. Maintaining these records are very important for deciding wages of workers, their nos.,the life of equipment/parts replaced,the maintenance /lubrication cost of equipment/parts etc. These are also very important to maintain to avail different ISO/BS certifications for the organisation. But to write it on daily basis it is tiresome process to copy the data from daily log sheet to each equipment register for Maintenance Department. Apart from it the engineers also write and maintain the various maintenance schedulesas followed in theeach equipment log book. To overcome this problem and as permanent solution the author’s in this papersuggestedusing M.S. Excel for maintenaning these records. The author’s show the easy records maintenaning using M.S. Excel with an example of NMDC BIOM Kirandul in state of Chhattisgarh.
