Abstract

Alfred North Whitehead was the twentieth century’s most original metaphysician and a major figure in mathematical logic. He was also known as a social and educational philosopher. The concept of creativity is based on Whitehead’s process philosophy. His philosophy identifies metaphysical reality with change and development. The process philosophy characterizes with flux, flow and process as reality. Creativity is the basis of process and issues with novelty. Such novelty arises from a sequence of events.

The world needs renewal in the area of education. That renewal arises from the creativity. The creativity has many characteristics i.e. innovation, curiosity, adventure, coherence of thoughts, delight in thinking and integrating thinking. Creativity leads students and teachers to experience the emotion of wonder, lure, joy, determination, exhilaration and reverence.

That point shows the concept of creativity as process directly relates to schooling, learning and teaching. The article shows the Whiteheadian concept of creativity and its relevance to education.
