THE MPLAD SCHEME AND CONTRIBUTION OF MANIKRAO GAVIT IN STRENGTHENING THE EDUCATIONAL SECTOR IN NANDURBAR (ST) PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCY , MAHARASHTRA

The MPLAD (Member of Parliament Local Area Development) Scheme is a well structured and organised Scheme of Govt. of India, since 1993. The main objective of this study was to highlight the developmental activities and work executed by Manikrao Gavit form his MPLADS Fund in strengthening the Basic Educational Infrastructure and facilities in tribal areas of Nandurbar and Dhule districts. The data was collected from the District Planning office of both Dhule and Nandurbar Districts and form the Office of 15th Loksabha’s MP followed with an exclusive Interview with Dadasaheb Manikrao Gavit who have elected consecutively 9th times as Member of Parliament from Nandurbar Parliamentary Constituency From 1981 to 2014 . The findings lead to conclusion that MPLAD scheme is playing a vital role in strengthening the educational sector in tribal areas. However, there are so many other sectors in MPLAD scheme and due to restrictions it is difficult to distribute desired fund for each sector/head, but despite of it Hon’ble Dada Manikrao Gavit, MP of Nandurbar (ST) Parliamentary Constituency has made remarkable contribution by diverting the other sector’s funds for development of educational sector in his constituency during 15th Lok Sabha.
