A STUDY OF ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN RELATEION TO MEDIUM OF STUDY AND LOCALITY

Environment belongs to all and it important to all. Environmental pollution has become a worldwide problem. Every person affected by environment and also he will affected the environment by his deeds. The modern technology certainly advanced in many ways positively however, it has also destroyed the environmental aspects in many ways. Due to this, the human and other living beings are now going through various types of diseases. So for protecting the environment we need to initiate the awareness among the people. Hence in this context the investigators made an attempt to study the environmental awareness of secondary school students. The objectives of the study are (i)To assess the environmental awareness of secondary school students. (ii) To study the relation between medium of study, locality and environmental awareness among secondary school students. In this study 1200 secondary school students were selected in Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh by employing stratified random sampling technique. The results revealed that (i) Medium of study has significant influence on the environmental awareness of secondary school students.(ii) Locality has significant influence on environmental awareness of secondary school students.
