THE ROLE OF ACHIEVEMENT IN GEOGRAPHY ONBUILDING BIO-DIVERSITY AWARENESS OF 11TH GRADE STUDENTS OF HAORA DISTRICT

The investigator attempts to study the role of achievement in geography on building the bio-diversity awareness of 11th grade students of Haora district in the state of West Bengal. The sample consists of 300 students of which 150 boys and 150 girls & 150 rural and 150 urban students are taken from10 higher secondary schools. The investigator was categorized the total sample into three achievement levels on the basis of their obtained marks in geography in the last annual examination. The Descriptive Survey Method was employed for the present study. The investigator developed a tool BAM for present study which has reliability coefficient 0.82. Collected data was analysed with suitable statistical techniques like t-test, ANOVA and Karl Pearson’s coefficient of correlation (‘r’) etc. through MS-Excel 2010 and SPSS 22.0 version. The result indicates that gender, residential background and academic background have no influence on significant differentiation of bio-diversity awareness.The relationship between achievement in geography and bio-diversity awareness among the students was found moderately positiveand significant.
