Abstract

All historical interpretations are ultimately based on evidence derived from the sources of history, conventionally divided into two categories – literary & archaeological literary sources include all texts long or short, written or oral and archaeological sources include all tangible, material remains. But actually, ancient literary manuscripts are material in mature and certain archaeological sources which have writing on them – inscriptions, coins, inscribed images – can be considered both material objects & texts

Pale magnetic dating : It is based on the analysis of particles contained in the sediments which can indicate the time when old rocks containing human artifacts or fossils were formed.

v. The Electron spin resonance method : The method is used for a material which decomposes when heated , and is thus useful for dating objects like tooth enamel.

vi. Fission track dating method : This method of dating is used in certain kinds of rocks and

minerals, obsidian , glass, mica , etc. It can date or far back as about 3,00,000 in years ago.

vii. Uranium – Thorium dating : The dating method is based on the measuring of radioactive decay of isotope of Uranium and useful for dating an object belonging to a period from 5,00,000 – 50,000 years. It is used for dating rocks which are rich in calcium carbonate.

viii. Dendrochronology : It is the also one of the most useful method of dating the trees which is based on the count of tree rings. It come be used for dating up to about 8,000 years ago. The tree – ring dating method is used for trees which get adequate rainfall as in those trees , the ring are regular. This one disadvantage is that it cannot be used for dating trees which could not get adequate water supply.

ix. Amino – acid analysis : It can be used in bonds and it can date bones as far back as 1,00,000 years ago.

x. Optically stimulated as infrared stimulated luminescence method : It can be used in any sediment which is believed to have been undisturbed after its burial under. After sediments. This method is more accurate than c-19 calibration for CE dates
