Abstract

In this paper, we aim to present a brief overview of different generations of Mobile Networks in term of history, architecture, handover, speed & challenges of mobile technologies.  In 1973 the first two persons talk with each other so it was the first mobile generation said to be 1G which further improves to 2nd , 3rd , 4th , 5th  and 6th(for future use)  generation. These all generations used the same architecture but some modifications made from one to other. There is also an important concept of handover in these generations because mobile networks used in cells. The speed of these different generations improved from 2Kb/sec   to 6 Gb/sec. We present the challenges facing these different generations in terms of cost, working, standards & usage.
