Abstract

Phytoplanktons the main biotic components have universal occurrence in natural water and form the prime components to the fish in the food chain of an aquatic ecosystem. The growth of phytoplanktons depending on various hydro-biological parameters available for the growth of fish in a Rajghat Dam. Rajghat Dam is one of the important Dam of Sagar district. It provides water resources as well as fishery resources to the people of Sagar (M.P.). The present investigation aim to study the phytoplankton population of Rajghat Dam Sagar (M.P.). It was observed that the different types of phytoplankton from Cyanophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Bacillariophyceae and Euglenophyceae were present in catchment area of Rajghat Dam indicating good productivity, supports to fishery resources.
