MODERNITY IN THE POEMS OF A.K.RAMANUJAN

Abstract
Modernity is a term that refers to the modern epoch, the period of history following the middle Ages in Europe, that is roughly after 1500 A.D. In different context, it refers to many different things. Modernity is a trend ,that affirm the power of human beings to create, improve, and reshape their environment with the aid of scientific knowledge, technology and practical experimentation. Being essentially a modernist, Ramanujan’s poetry mirrors an apt usage of all devices, which are the primary characteristics of modern poetry. Possessing a modernist temperament, the poet makes a councious efforts to break free from the shackles of the conventional made of writing.
