Abstract

Arun Joshi is one of those modern Indian novelists in English who have broken  new grounds. In this novel Joshi explores the themes of alienation, rootlessness, primitism, existentialism and quest for identity.  Crisis of self and a quest for fulfilment is the central experience of this novel. The strange case of Billy Biswas. Joshi presents a strange and complex character of Bimal Biswas who finds himself rootless and alienated from his surroundings.
