Obsession with fashion in ‘Northanger Abbey’
Abstract
This paper attempts to study the Victorian society in the Novels of Jane Austen especially in Northanger Abbey. The mannerism, living style and fashion of the period are assessed specially. Aristocratic society’s obsession with fashion has been observed from the beginning to the end of the novel Northanger Abbey. Men and women of the cities, towns and small villages all have the effect of this wave of fashion. This paper wished to present this aspect of people’s living style from different point of views.
