FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF M.P. STATE CIVIL SUPPLIES CORPORATION LTD

Abstract
Balance sheet is a financial statement that presents the financial position of the company at the end of the accounting period. It is the second and most significant financial statement of a company which shows the sources of capital and other long term and short-term liabilities on the one side and position of assets and investments on the other side.This paper presents the analysis of balance sheet of M.P. state Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd by implementing various devices of financial analysis such as comparative, common-size and ratio analysis, so that a meaningful interpretation can be drawn. MPSCSCL is a state government undertaking which is engaged in public distribution system to procure food grains to the poor and extremely poor people through an efficient distribution channel under public distribution system. It procures and moves almost 1and half million tonnes of wheat, paddy, coarse grains, kerosene, sugar, iodised salt and pulses by its strong distribution network every year. The corporation acquires wheat, paddy and coarse grains from farmers at minimum support price (fixed by the government from time to time) and sends paddy to private miller for milling, the millers deposits the paddy after milling to Food Corporation of India.
