Abstract

The conceptual paper is based on demonetisation and its impact on e-commerce. As demonetisation is hottest topic currently in Indian economy. It has huge scope for research from all the dimensions and aspects. The paper is based on its influence on e-commerce industry. There are various benefits as well as drawbacks in this revolution in currency system in India but looking at the present scenario the most challenging task in front of government is going cashless. All the analyst and researchers are in dilemma about the readiness of our economy to take a leap forward in online and cashless transaction system. E-commerce is one of the fast growing industry in India. It is greatly affected by this sudden step of government as CASH ON DELIVERY is the innovation of e-commerce, it is facing a hindrance due to demonetisation. Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal, Ola, Uber and many other online shopping and service sites are ruling the retail segment. These e-commerce sites, however, took an unplanned spike in their revenue soon after the implementation of the ban on the higher denomination currency notes. Online money transfers and digital payments are nit as difficult as before and e-commerce is an easy way to tackle the situation of digitization and demonetization. The paper is focused on the insight of present and future of e-commerce business taking into consideration demonetization. There is a difference in long term and short term impacts because situation will become better with the increase in online payments and awareness in people regarding digitization. Digital market is the future, and we expect it to make our business efficient in the long run of our economy. There are many other social as well as economic factors that affect e-commerce after demonetization.
