Abstract

Patients with different categories of illness admitted for treatment in various hospitals of Jabalpur were screened for deep mycosis. A total of 53 patients were investigated for invasive fungal infections during 2012-13 out of the 53 cases were studied, 26 were found positive for fungal infection. The results indicated that 7 isolates belong to yeast species and 11 species belong to moulds. In vitro susceptibility profiles against fungal pathogens exhibited variations in MIC’s. Itraconazole was found effective against Candida albicans and Ketoconazole was effective against moulds. Human pathogenic fungal infection in local population is a significant factor in the causation of such diseases in the patients.
