NANOSTRUCTURED CADMIUM SULFIDE AND CADMIUM OXIDE: SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND FORMATION PROCESS
Keywords:
Abstract
Semiconductor Cadmium Sulfide and Cadmium oxide nanoparticles were synthesized using chemical route technique at room temperature by mixing aqueous solutions of CdCl2 and Na2S in presence of capping agent mercaptoethanol and in case of CdO mixing aqueous solutions of CdCl2 and NaOH in presence of ethylene glycol as a capping agent. The results of a detailed investigation with variety of techniques like X-ray diffraction, UV-Vis absorption spectra, scanning electron microscope (SEM) are reported. A clearly red shift of the absorption edge and the optical band gap of these materials have been determined in order to establish a relationship between energy band gap of bulk and nanomaterials. The variation of particles size dependent on the concentration of capping agent.References
