‘A House for Mr.Biswas’ is a milestone in the colonial literature. It deals with a question of identity in a foreign atmosphere for a man who is of Indian origin.How he struggles and to what extent is he able to establish himself and prove his existence is the theme of the novel.To have a house is the dream of Mr.Biswas .He spends his life in fulfilling this dream. The novel also has some autobiographical elements and this paper tries to present them with suitable examples from the text.
