RECENT LEVEL AND TRENDS OF OCCUPTIONAL STRUCTURE OF SEONI SISTRICT OF (M.P)
Abstract
The high participation rare ( 43.00 percent) in the study region is associated with higher proportion of female workers, scheduled castes and scheduled tribes and the higher proportion of agricultural workers. The male participation rate (55.24) is two times higher than that of females (30.44 percent) The low participation rate among females is attributable to the low literacy rate, pradah system particularly among higher castes and lower availability of non- agricultural occupations. The participation rate is higher in rural areas ( 44.32 percent) than that of urban areas (27.24 percent) nearly 80 per cent population totally depends upon agriculture and the lower degree of urbanization resulted in lower degree of participation rate in urban areas then that un rural areas. The economy of the region is overwhelmingly agricultural and more than fourth ( 85.28 percent) workers are employed in agricultural sector. the proportion of agricultural workers is high where the tribal populations also high lower degree of urbanization and literacy rate and high agricultural density.References
