CRITICAL EVALUATION OF HYDRO ELECTRIC POWER IN HIMACHAL PRADESH

Energy plays a vital role economic development of India. Hydro power is a renewable, economic, non-polluting and environment friendly source of energy. Hydro-electric power can be far less expensive than electricity generated from fossil-fuel or nuclear energy. After independence in the year 1947, a number of multi- purpose projects come into existence. Our nations of the world depend on the uses of energy for their agricultural and industrial growth and for transport and communication. In Himachal Pradesh, Hydro Electric Power is only one source of energy because other sources of energy like thermal power and nuclear power is negligible. Today, Himachal Pradesh is Known as “Hydro power State of the Country”. The paper is based on critical evaluation of Hydro electric Power in Himachal Pradesh. Because, Electricity Projects having positive and negative impact on Himachal economy. Collected data from different annual reports has been analysed in tabular form by using percentage method.References
