Abstract

The accelerating rate of population growth has been realized as an obstacle to the social and economic development of the country (Gandotra, 1966: 30). This increase is contributed by the fast decline in the death rate and the almost stationary, or even increased level of birth rate. Among the countries of the world India holds a unique position for its socio-economic, cultural, linguistic and demographic diversities. Among all these diversities, among all these diversities, demographic diversity has a special meaning.
