CHANGING PERSPECTIVES IN MANAGEMENT OF CAREERS

This conceptual article stresses the relative changes that have occurred in the field of career management. Through this article, the authors have tried to consolidate the enormous amount of literature available so that the dynamics of career management can be understood in light of the present day’s highly dynamic environment. This article highlights the transformation of meaning and practice of career management from organisational career management (OCM) to individual career management (ICM) and finally to joint responsibility of both individuals and organisations. Further there is an emphasis on various models of career management and responsibilities that should be borne by key players to make career management a success.
