A STUDY ON THE PURPOSE OF INTERNET USAGE AMONG STUDENTS OF PUNJAB AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY

The study was undertaken to analyze the purpose of internet usage among students of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. A proportionate random sample of 200 students was drawn from the four constituent colleges of the university. Questionnaire was developed to study their use of internet for different purposes. The time use was maximum for academic followed by entertainment and social networking purpose. It was least for seeking information. Internet use was maximum for preparation of assignments/term papers and presentations. On the basis of the results its recommended that students should be motivated through assignments to increase the use of internet for academic and informative purposes and information regarding the popular and the latest websites with their address should be displayed on the notice boards.
