SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF PIEZOELECTRIC BNKT CERAMICS BY SOL-GEL METHOD

The increasing demand for environmental-friendly materials has promoted the synthesis of new lead free ceramics with excellent piezoelectric properties for different applications in electronic industry. Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3(BNT), is one of the promising lead free piezoelectric ceramics. However, there are some difficulties in poling BNT ceramics because of their high leakage current. Thus, some modifications of BNT ceramics have been made to BNT composition with BaTiO3, NaNbO3, Bi0.5K0.5TiO3(BKT) to improve the poling process and electrical properties. The (1-x)BNT-xBKT system reveals relatively high piezoelectric and dielectric properties when x is between 0.16 ~0.20. BNKT is one of the important candidates of piezoelectric material and has wide applications in sensors, actuators, transducers, electronic devices etc.
