Abstract

Corporations have long realised that people are its greatest resource andcompany’s competitive-advantage is only as strong as the competitive skills of its employees.

It is generally perceived that levels of skills and capabilities of managers are different between the large companies and their smaller peers. However we find these skills are highly personal and subjective, the size of the company does not assure it of its competitive interpersonal-skill advantage.

Our researchfinds that the critical skills like interpersonal skills are evenly balanced with only a small advantage for larger companies. This advantage, however, is not commensurate with additional employee costs incurred by larger companies. We conclude that there are minimal differences in interpersonal skills between managers of large and medium sized companies.
