“MEASURING THE DEPENDENCE PRONENESS OF COLLEGE STUDENTS IN RELATION TO THEIR PERSONALITY”

Abstract

In the present investigation an attempt has been made to measure the dependence proneness of college students in relation to their personality. The dependence proneness scale by Sinha and Esyneck personality inventory are employed for data collection. The college students are the population of the study. The sample size is 480. The results show that there is a high dependence proneness of college students of Vijayapur city. There is a significant difference between Govt. and private, men and women, Urban and rural, Arts and science, and Kannada and English medium students in their dependence proneness. There is no significant difference between arts and commerce students in their dependence proneness. There is a significant relationship between dependence proneness and personality of college students as a whole and respective sub groups in particular.
