Abstract

Inclusive education is the act of ensuring that all children despite their differences, receive the opportunity of being part of the same classroom as other children of their age, and in the process get the opportunity of being exposed to the curriculum to their optimal potential. Every child is special for his/her parent, every child has a special need for love, acceptance and a feeling of belongingness. There is a need to develop a long-term strategy in which every step taken adds to the sound base for inclusive education. This can be facilitated by developing a better understanding of the present status of education of children with disabilities, and how inclusive practices can be promoted.
