SELF DISCOVERY AND SANGUINITY IN THE NOVEL “THE BETTER MAN”

Abstract

The paper is a clear picture of an Indian woman who fulfils her duties towards her family and husband. Further she goes ahead to oblige her husband despite of getting hurt. Her all tries to make her husband happy become fail. Then she decided to get rid of all the sufferings and search a new life as a new woman who doesn’t need any man. This paper will examine the expectation that is placed on a woman in the novel The Better Man, be it by her family, her (future) husband, and other people, especially women. It also explores the self discovery of Mukundan who is the centre character of the novel.
