Abstract

Technology has generated more changes in libraries over the last few years. The digital library needs a well-defined mechanism to organize store and disseminate the information resources. Library professional needs to have knowledge about the new technological advancement and how to provide information effectively to the users at right time.The present paper deals with digital library characteristics, issues, purposes, problems and challenges. Discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the concept and justify the need of digital library in the modern information era.
