Abstract

Sri Aurobindo as a true mystic, believes in evolution. He sees a definite purpose in creation and man is moving towards that direction. Sri Aurobindo  had always preferred to call himself a poet and not a philosopher.  He is different in the this sense from poet such as Whiteman, Yeats and Eliot that he was a confirmed mystic- a yogi. Essentially his poetic development followed the same curve of evolution as that of his consciousness through yoga. In his poetry there is a perfect blend of the evolving intellect and aesthetic sense a vital poetry appealing to the imagination through the sense mind and emotions emerged.  Through Savitri Aurbindo discussed the awakening of the self or raising the life and existence to a higher level of conscious and a form of woman empowerment, female psyche and gender equality.
