Abstract
BACKGROUND Yoga can increase pulmonary functions without having any harmful effect on body and result in both improved sinonasal and asthmatic symptoms with fewer physician visits and decreased need for medication. Asthma and sinusitis coexist and impact on one another at many different levels . In present study 90 patients (20-50 years) were selected on the basis of inclusive and exclusive criteria, and PFTs were done by computerized spirometer in the form of FVC, FEV-1 and PEFR on day-1, after 12 weeks and 24 weeks of their yogic practice. The present study was designed to assess the effects of yogic practice of Dirga svasa preksha ,jalaneti and vaman dhauti on some pulmonary functions in the patients of bronchial asthma and sinusitis
AIM: To evaluate the impact of Dirga svasa preksha and cleansing processes or shat karma [vaman dhauti and Jala neti] in terms of change in pulmonary functions and improvement in nasal obstruction, headache, pain and pressure in bronchial asthma and sinusitis.
