Abstract

Education and social science researches are complex and multifarious. The epistemological reflection of education and social science research probes question on the research design and methodological approach. The methods under education and social science researches are majorly categorized under quantitative and qualitative research. The former is often considered to have positivist paradigm and the later to follow inter pretivism. Nevertheless education and social science researchers are often argued on the grounds of internal reliability and validity. Triangulation is an effective approach for monitoring and evaluating data. Triangulation between and across methods essentially ensures the internal consistency and validation. This review research paper in its first phase focuses on the critical issues under debate for reliability and validity of education and social science researches. In the second Phase it further discusses on triangulation and its usability. In the final phase, it critically reflects on the process of triangulation and how it satisfies the internal consistency and reliability norms of education and social science researches.
