Karnad‟s play Hayavadana, puts forward a different problem, the identification of a human being in this world of strange relationships. The theme of the play is a complex one and Karnad, good-humouredly yet critically, manipulates the very concepts of the rational and the physical. The multiplicity of characters and their individual psyche circles playing into each other build up a complex pattern of human relationship. And by projecting these human sympathies against a gradually intensifying clash of personalities, Karnad presents a comprehensive picture of the human living in the search for perfection and completeness, which would further enhance power and glory.References
