Abstract

: Development is a powerful term and every policy practioner uses it to the best possible extent for its own advantage. Capability Approach offers some of the refreshing ideas in the context of development. One of the most distinguishing features of Capability Approach is its ability to give maximum autonomy to the Individual. The paper discusses the issue of individual autonomy and how it affects decision making process. The notion of development is seriously affected when we compromise human freedom. Capability Approach by focusing on human freedom and functioning does a better job of addressing the question of development
