Abstract

Woman is the companion of man gifted with equal mental capacities. She is the foundation of all that is beautiful and desirable and leads to power. She is a vital part of a society and to have in depth knowledge about the social structure of any civilization, exploration and investigation of women is a must. Against this backdrop it is significant that Punjab accorded women complete equality with men in all spheres of life over five hundred years ago. The purpose of this paper is to assess the role of women of the Punjab in a freedom struggle
