Abstract
This project represents the experimental results of replacement of course aggregate with that of steel slag and evaluates the effect of various properties of concrete. The basic objective of the study is to identify an alternative source of course aggregate because the natural sources of aggregates are depleting very fast due to the fast pace of construction activities in India. In place of course aggregate steel slag is used –which is a waste industrial by product of iron and steel industries and it provides a great opportunity to utilize as an alternative of naturally available aggregate (coarse). In this study concrete of M25 grade were considered with a W/C ratio of 0.45 for the replacement of 5%, 10%, and 15% of course aggregate by slag. In this investigation the improvement in compressive strength, split tensile strength, durability properties and nondestructive test. Based on the overall observations, it could be recommended that the steel slag could be utilized as course aggregate in the various applications of concrete. This study investigates the performance of concrete mixtures containing steel slag at various percentage and compressive strength and durability at 7 and 28 days. Result shows that concrete with steel slag had higher compressive strength and durability.References
